Time Commitment: Approximately 10 hours per week

Position Summary
The Volunteer Coordinator provides leadership, structure, and care for Sawa Sawa’s volunteer community. This role ensures that volunteers are recruited, onboarded, trained, supported, and aligned with the mission and values of the organization. The Volunteer Coordinator helps translate vision into consistent practice — creating systems that support both volunteers and the families we serve.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement strategies to recruit new volunteers.

Facilitate volunteer orientation and ensure completion of background checks and required paperwork.

Provide training on cultural humility, confidentiality, and team norms.

Match volunteers to appropriate roles based on skills and availability.

Maintain regular communication with volunteers, offering encouragement and accountability.

Work with staff to identify program needs and volunteer gaps.

Track volunteer engagement and maintain updated volunteer records.

Refine onboarding systems and gather volunteer feedback for improvement.

Ensure volunteers operate within established policies and procedures.
